October can mean many things. It’s the return of our warmer clothing, we start getting coffee drinks with pumpkin and cinnamon included as main ingredients, and yes, it’s the return of one of the more fun festivals of the year: Halloween! Whether you like getting dressed up, having some spooky fun with the family, or enjoy being legitimately scared, you’ll find everything you need to have a memorable time if you’re visiting Calgary during late October. Check out all the details below!

Ready to be scared

If you’re really ready to be scared, then make sure you’re getting down to ScreamFest, which will take place at Edmonton Expo Centre from October 24 - 27. There’ll be haunted houses, carnival games, and plenty of other creepy and disturbing goings-on. Be warned, though, this really is intended to scare, so don’t bring the children.

Horsey Halloween

This one is for the kids! Not too scary, just a little spooky, and pretty darn cute, too. At Hallow-whinny, your children can watch a Halloween parade of costumed horses, make crafts, eat sweets, and enjoy other festive fun. Takes place October 26 at Whitemud Equine Learning Centre Association

A monster on the stage

Are there any better stories than Frankenstein? After 200 hundred years, it still packs a powerful punch. You can witness the terror of the monster in ballet form by watching the performance by the Alberta Ballet at Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium from October 31 - November 2. There's a big anticipation about this show, so don’t miss it.

Get a good night’s sleep after all that terror by staying at the best hotel in Edmonton. At the Paradise Inn & Suites Signature Edmonton International Airport, you’ll be conveniently located nearby to both downtown and the airport. As well as an enviable location, you can also enjoy amenities such as a complimentary breakfast, fitness and business centre, and pet-friendly rooms.
