The holidays will look a little different this year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a fresh spin on holiday favourites. Now is a great time to plan a staycation and focus on making the most of the holiday season wherever you are!

Here are a couple of holiday events happening around Leduc that you can add to your month to change things up:

Decorate your home for Light-up Leduc

Take part in the 2020 Light-up Leduc event to bring some winter joy and sparkle to your community! Adorn your home with lights and set up a decorative, holiday display to bring a smile to passersby. A panel of community judges will tour the registered displays the evening of December 4, and evaluate them using a scorecard with criteria including: best overall, wow factor, completeness and originality. The first place winner will receive a $300 gift card from Canadian Tire, and two runner-ups will receive $100 gift cards.

To participate, submit your registration before December 1. If you’re not participating, you can still enjoy the displays by checking out the city’s official social media pages (@cityofleduc across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) after the winners are announced on December 11.

CP Holiday Train at Home Concert

In a normal year you’d be bundling up to go outside and catch a glimpse of The Canadian Pacific (CP) Holiday Train, but this year you can enjoy the train from the comfort and warmth of your home! On Saturday, Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. (MT) on the Canadian Pacific Facebook page, catch feature performances from Serena Ryder, The Trews, JoJo Mason, Logan Staats and Kelly Prescott.

In addition to holiday performances, the event will also raise money and awareness to help local food banks collect much-needed donations. CP will donate $1.24 million to 201 food banks in communities that ordinarily host CP Holiday Train events and encourages attendees, if able, to contribute to their local food bank too. For those in Leduc wishing to donate, you can see more information on what’s needed and ways to give on the Leduc & District Food Bank website.

If you find yourself in Leduc for whatever reason, or in need of accommodation close to Edmonton International Airport, Paradise Inn & Suites is your home away from home. We are always committed to the safety of our employees and guests, and in light of the COVID-19 pandemic have been utilizing the extra recommendations from both AHS and the Alberta Hospitality and Lodging Association. You can see a full list of what we’re doing to help keep you and our employees safe.

Secure a room today that is a perfect fit if you are seeking hotels by the airport or a hotel with airport shuttle services.
